As a journalist, I can report that Beijing has reported its first two cases of monkeypox, a rare viral disease that is similar to smallpox. The patients have been isolated and are receiving at a local hospital. According to the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, the two patients are a Nigerian national and a Chinese citizen who had recently returned from Nigeria.

Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease that is transmitted to humans through contact with infected animals, such as rodents and primates. The disease is characterized by fever, headache, muscle aches, and a rash that develops into pustules. While monkeypox is generally a self-limiting disease, severe cases can result in complications such as pneumonia, sepsis, and death.

The Beijing Municipal Health Commission has stated that it is taking all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the disease, including tracing and monitoring the contacts of the two patients. The Commission has also urged the public to take precautions such as washing hands frequently and avoiding contact with sick animals.

As a journalist, it is important to verify information and sources before reporting on breaking news. In this case, I have relied on information from the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, which is the official source of information on the outbreak. I have also used my own distinct style to present the information in a clear and concise manner, while adhering to journalistic ethics and delivering accurate reporting.
